Participation in the meeting of the UNESCO Chair in Sexual Health and Human Rights

On April 12 and 13, 2025, I will participate in the meeting of the UNESCO Chair in Sexual Health and Human Rights in Paris. This international meeting brings together experts from various disciplines—doctors, researchers, activists, and educators—to reflect together on the future of sexual health from a human rights perspective.

An approach based on respect, dignity, and inclusion

Sexual health is much more than just a medical issue. It touches on fundamental aspects of identity, human relationships, well-being, and individual autonomy. The UNESCO Chair in Sexual Health and Human Rights advocates for an inclusive and humanistic vision, in which every individual has the right to reliable information, appropriate care, and treatment that respects his or her dignity.

Why is this meeting important?

In a global context characterized by both scientific progress and setbacks in the area of rights, it is crucial to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and ethical obligations. This meeting offers an opportunity to take stock of:

  • Current challenges regarding access to sexual and reproductive health care.
  • Persistent inequalities based on gender, sexual orientation, or geographic context.
  • The role of healthcare professionals in fostering a climate of trust and non-discrimination.
  • New Approaches to Research and Education in the Field of Sexual Health.

My involvement with the chair

As a urologist and andrologist, I am guided in my daily work by these principles of respect and active listening. As a member of the chair’s executive committee, I can contribute to a collective dynamic, draw attention to patients’ specific needs in the field of andrology, and support a more equitable and humane health policy.

I am proud to be part of this international initiative and look forward to contributing to the upcoming discussions in Paris, in the interest of accessible, equitable sexual health care based on the fundamental rights of all people.
